During “The Vote: Intensifying the Voice of the Youth to Engage and Vote for Change” organized by the Far Eastern University (FEU) College Y Club, John Carlo Borja, Chief Youth Mobilizer of the Positive Youth Development Network, urged fellow young voters to “learn from the lessons of this current administration.”
“It speaks volumes about what leaders we need should there be another pandemic, should there be decision-making about whether a big news station or not. We need leaders who will stand firm with their good principles and values. And I think they should serve as an eye-opener for all of us,” Borja said.
SunStar May 26, 2021 IN THE long hours of doing homework or doing nothing at all in this pandemic, it feels like we are isolated from the rest of the world and even from the people in our homes, but a simple “how are you?” can mean so much and get someone back on track.
The Philippines has been in lockdown for more than a year now. Just as we thought things are getting better, we see another surge in cases in the country, and new stringent rules that limit socialization are being implemented again.
Some people struggle to cope with the isolation that they drown from pools of anxiety, uncertainty, and depression.
House bill on birth, death, marriage certificate validity hurdles 2nd reading By CONSUELO MARQUEZ, GMA News
Published May 25, 2021 7:24pm The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved on second reading the proposed measure providing a lifetime validity to live birth, death, and marriage certificates. During the House session, the chamber passed House Bill 9175 or the Permanent Validity of Certificates of Live Birth, Death, and Marriage Act which seeks to promote efficiency by removing duplicitous processes and requirements on the issuance and use of the documents. Certificates of live birth, death, and marriage issued, signed, certified and authenticated by PSA and its predecessor NSO, and local civil registries shall have permanent validity regardless of date of issuance and shall be recognized and accepted in all government or private transactions or services, read the measure.
PSA said a total of 10,092,022 registrants have finished this step as of May 21.
Step 2 registration to the PhilSys involves capturing registrant’s biometric information such as their iris scan, fingerprint scan, and front-facing photograph and the validation of information at their local registration centers.
“We owe this milestone to the enthusiasm and support of our citizens to the PhilSys program and the hardwork of the PSA Field Offices in making sure that registration operations roll out smoothly and safely in their respective provinces,” Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PSA’s PhilSys Registry Office, said in a statement.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 26) The National Task Force Against COVID-19 said it is set to release guidelines for vaccinating economic frontliners as the country gears up to vaccinate more Filipinos to achieve herd immunity by year-end.
NTF Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon also said during a briefing that once this is issued, immunization of essential workers, specifically those in the NCR and 8 other areas as approved by President Rodrigo Duterte, can start by June.
Earlier, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said they target to start inoculating members of the A4 and A5 (indigent sector) groups after May, the time when vaccine supply is expected to stabilize. However, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said the simultaneous vaccination of said clusters will initially focus on areas with number of COVID-19 cases, namely Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Pampanga, Batangas, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao, or the NCR+8.
