Volunteers continued searching Friday for a missing Berkeley man who vanished nearly a week ago while purportedly out for an eight-mile run at Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park.
Two days after Pleasanton police and sheriffâs officials called off the official search for 37-year-old Philip Kreycik, friends and volunteers again met at Foothill High School to pass out flyers, continue searching the parkâs wilderness trails, and canvass the neighborhoods around it in the event Kreycik never went for his run.
Thursday evening, Pleasanton police Lt. Eric Silacci said that although officers were no longer searching, they were going over maps, looking for areas to possibly search in the future, and conducting interviews with Kreycikâs family and friends to learn more about the man. Kreycikâs car was found at the park, and Silacci said police believed Kreycik was either on the mountain, or âhe is somewhere else.â

Marking the last fully operational day of an exhaustive search, today consisted of re-doubling efforts and adding new sections, which included the area in Sunol canyon where âcries for helpâ had been reported. Unfortunately, during todayâs search, a member of the search and rescue team suffered a minor injury.
At this time, no new evidence has been recovered.
âWe appreciate the Kreycik familyâs cooperation and patience during this difficult time, and we have the best resources here to help in both the search efforts and the investigation,â said Lieutenant Erik Silacci. âEvery day, search and rescue crews and countless volunteers have been working nonstop to find Philip, and we all want to
