UFC 259 Medical Suspensions: Israel Adesanya Faces Lengthy Layoff

UFC 259 Medical Suspensions: Israel Adesanya Faces Lengthy Layoff Following last weekend’s UFC 259 event, the medical suspensions have now been released. The most notable suspension on the list is that of reigning middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who will be sidelined for six months unless his left foot and ankle are cleared by a doctor. Megan Anderson is also facing a six-month suspension pending clearance of her right elbow and nose. Additionally, Aleksandar Rakic and Jordan Espinoza could be out for the same length of time for injuries sustained during their UFC 259 bouts. However, Blachowicz won a unanimous decision, sending Adesanya back home, at least for now. At the post-fight media conference, the champ respectfully asked for some respect.

He will forever be the first Jordanian fighter signed by the UFC. (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) France’s “Silverback” entered the UFC with a 7-1 record, as the heavyweight champion of South Africa’s EFC Worldwide, and alternated wins and losses. He has not fought since a TKO loss to Tai Tuivasa at UFC 221 on February 11, 2018. The now 42 year old Australian “Astro Girl” ended on a three-fight losing streak, and has not fought since UFC Fight Night 137 on September 22, 2018.

UFC 257 Medical Suspensions: Conor McGregor Faces Lengthy Layoff

Credit: Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC/GettyImages The UFC 257 medical suspensions are in, and if they hold up, it could be a long time before we see Conor McGregor compete again. Following his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, Conor McGregor will now be sidelined for six months and cannot have contact training for 30 days. A six-month layoff would certainly damage McGregor’s plan of having a very active 2021, but that is what would happen if McGregor does not receive a negative result from an X-ray on his right tibula/fibula. Poirier, on the contrary, is only suspended for seven days.
