Man gets 15 years Eastern District Court for gun, sex offenses

Firearm and sex offenses land a Plano man in the Eastern District of Texas courts this week.
Wayne Edward Bearden, 40, pleaded guilty on Dec. 4, 2019 to being a felon in possession of firearms and to coercion, enticement and aiding and abetting. He was sentenced to a total term of imprisonment of 180 months by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant this week.
“Today’s sentence takes a dangerous man off the street, and will bring a measure of closure and comfort to those he victimized,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei in a news release. “While this case began as a firearms investigation, due the excellent work of our federal and local law enforcement partners we were able to uncover – and dismantle – a commercial sex trafficking operation.”

An angry white man was caught on video attacking Black Lives Matter protesters in Texas over the weekend.
The incident was said to have occurred in Frisco, Texas after demonstrators stopped traffic while protesting the death of Marvin Scott III. The Collin County medical examiner recently said that Scott s death was a homicide that occurred during restraint struggle with law enforcement.
Video shared online shows the white man yelling at protesters in the street before he approaches a Plano police officer and demands action. Get these fucking people out of the way! the man shouts at the officer before turning to take a swing at a protester.
Video footage captured a tall white man, wearing a navy shirt and sports sunglasses, barreling toward protesters while screaming obscenities. With a buzzcut and graying goatee, the man is seen approaching a Plano officer positioned at the intersection and demanding that he “get these fucking people out of the way.”
Then, the man walks toward a young Black woman and slaps at the cell phone she was using to film him. Demonstrators circle around her, and attorney Lee Merritt, who represents the Scott family, approaches the man. From there, the man puts his right fist on Merritt’s chest while holding up his left fist as if prepared to strike. The officer attempts to usher the man in the opposite direction.
“Those small amounts, those don’t excite me,” Garcia said. “Arresting individuals that are victimizing our city, that excites me. Getting drug dealers excites me.”
He says his officers are better off focusing on violent crime than arresting and citing people for small amounts of marijuana.
This has been in the works for some time now, but finally went into effect yesterday.
“Officers will receive the updated General Orders, a Roll Call Training Bulletin, and a training video to ensure understanding and achieve compliance,” the chief said in a memo to City Council. “The Dallas Police Department will continue to review its procedures to ensure they are in line with best practices and national standards.”
