(WJRT) - COVID-19 hospitalizations, new cases and the percentage of positive tests all edged upward slightly on Tuesday. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 173 new COVID-19 illnesses on Tuesday for a total of 894,433. State health officials reported 32 deaths attributed to the coronavirus for Tuesday, which increase Michigan’s total COVID-19 deaths to 19,744. Twenty-seven of those deaths came after a routine audit of vital records. State health officials periodically review death certificates to look for confirmed COVID-19 patients. If a patient who died wasn’t already included in coronavirus death totals and has COVID-19 listed as a cause of death, they are added after the review.

(WJRT) - (06/29/2021) - A severe thunderstorm on Tuesday had a strong presence in many parts of Mid-Michigan, especially in southern Genesee County. In Grand Blanc Township, one woman is dealing with two large trees that fell during the storm, barely missing her bedroom window. Now, she’s afraid to sleep in her own home as another large tree hangs right over her roof, and she’s left jumping through hoops to get the situation resolved.

The same weather system that has been plaguing Mid-Michigan since last week, dished up another round of strong thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon.  This time, it was the southern parts of the ABC12 viewing that was hit the hardest.  The storms were characterized by strong, damaging winds and frequent lightning and thunder.  A few showers may linger overnight, but most of us will have a quiet setting as lows range from the middle, to upper 60s. With a cool front making its way across lower Michigan early Wednesday, more showers will be possible for the afternoon, but the threat of severe thunderstorms will be swept off to our east.  Highs for the day will range from the upper 70s, to lower 80s.  By the end of the day, winds will be shifting in from the northwest.  This change in the wind direction will deal us a breath of fresh air as
