Two vaccine clinics coming to Linden and Fenton

 One local resident is partnering with multiple organizations to bring vaccine clinics to the Linden and Fenton area.  Linden High School is hosting a COVID vaccine clinic Saturday, May 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation will host a vaccine clinic at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center on Saturday, June 5 from 3 to 6 p.m  Local resident Rob Rossow, pharmacist/owner of the Clio Road Pharmacy in Flint, said they’re partnering with Linden school’s Community Education and Food Service Director Debbie Brindle for the Linden schools clinic.  This event will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for anyone 12 years old and older and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for those 18 and older.

Daily vaccinations slowing down

 Genesee County has enough vaccines to meet the demand, and officials are reporting that the number of daily vaccinations is slowing down.  Ashley Herbig, emergency preparedness coordinator at the Genesee County Health Department, said, “Vaccine distribution is experiencing a decrease in recipients at this time. A number of factors can contribute to the decline that is being experienced in other areas and not just specifically Genesee County.”  As of Thursday, May 6, 250,563 vaccines have been administered in Genesee County, with 146,881 first shots. Approximately 44 percent of eligible people have received one dose, and 31 percent are fully vaccinated.  Capt. Richard Cronkright from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said the number of people coming to vaccine clinics has been decreasing.

The county Health Department has added the clinics to its online vaccine scheduler, allowing individuals to make an appointment for a specific time without being placed a waiting list.
