BLAIRSVILLE-SALTSBURG BOARD MEETINGS SET

The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board will hold a committee meeting tonight, on the eve of tomorrow night’s special meeting at which the board will vote on whether or not to permanently close the Saltsburg Middle-High School.
Tonight’s meeting does not have a published agenda, but tomorrow night’s does. It calls for citizen remarks on the motion to close the school, then consideration of the motion and a vote.
The motion itself is quite simple; it notes that the required public hearings were held on the matter on January 13
th and 14
th, that the 90-day moratorium on a final vote has now passed, and that the board wishes to render its decision. The administration is then directed to take any and all actions to notify the state Department of Education and to do whatever is necessary to affect the closure.

The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board has scheduled a special meeting for this Thursday evening to consider and vote on the permanent closure of the Saltsburg Middle-High School. The meeting will be held virtually and the link for the public to view and participate will posted to the district website, www.b-ssd.org, after noon that day.

BLAIRSVILLE-SALTSBURG TO BRING BACK STUDENTS NEXT WEEK IN TWO FORMATS By Josh Widdowson

At a special meeting on Wednesday, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board approved returning students to campus starting next Monday in two different formats.
Elementary students will attend four days a week, with Wednesday being a full remote learning day. High School Students will attend on the hybrid cohort schedule that was in place before. Board President Rick Harper said that it was important that elementary students to get back to in-person classes.
