Suburban money fueling Cleveland mayoral race

CLEVELAND, Ohio – More than half of all dollars rolling into high-profile mayoral candidates’ coffers during the past reporting period did not come from the city of Cleveland, instead filtering in from the suburbs or elsewhere in Ohio.
That figure comes from an analysis of campaign finance disclosures filed for the latest reporting period from July through December by five of the top-tier candidates who are exploring a run or have entered the race to succeed Mayor Frank Jackson – who hasn’t ruled out a run for a fifth term.
Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelley, City Councilman Blaine Griffin, former Mayor Dennis Kucinich and 2017 mayoral hopeful Zack Reed all received a majority of their donations from outside Cleveland, most of it from familiar suburbs such as Shaker Heights or Lakewood. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland council members told 19 News the city is prepared if protesters or extremists decide to demonstrate in Northeast Ohio the week of the Presidential Inauguration.
This comes after Cleveland City Hall was evacuated the day Joe Biden was certified as President-Elect.
The entire nation and the world watched what unfolded on Wednesday as pro-Trump rioters breached the Capitol Building. Five people died, including one female protester shot inside the Capitol and a Capitol Police officer who suffered injuries while trying to help control the crowd.

CLEVELAND, OHIO (WOIO) - The New Year could ring in a new approach for the Cleveland Division of Police.
Money is on the most wanted list for officers, old and new, and council members are in the process of working out some new avenues for the new budget.
Ward 9 City Councilman Kevin Conwell is also an active member of the city’s finance committee, and he sees a severe need for more police, especially with several members of the force retired or simply left the department altogether.
