Unidentified bodies were found floating in river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on Tuesday, a day after similar sightings in Bihar, reported NDTV. The district is only 55 km from Buxar, where bloated bodies had piled up on the banks of the river in Chausa village.
Ghazaipur District Magistrate MP Singh said that officials were at the spot where the bodies have been found and an investigation was underway, reported ANI. “We are trying to find out where they came from,” he said.
Local residents, however, have accused the administration of incompetence and complained of foul smell emanating from the decomposed bodies. “We informed the administration about the matter, but no action has been taken by them,” Akhand, a local resident, told ANI. “If the situation continues like this, there is fear of us getting infected by [the] coronavirus.”

Patna (Bihar) [India], May 12 (ANI): Bihar Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha has said 71 bodies have been taken out from the Ganges in Buxar district and their last rites performed and a net has been placed in the Ganga in Ranighat, bordering UP and Bihar, to stop any similar incident from happening again. The bodies were found floating in the river and there are apprehensions that the corpses could of COVID-19 patients.
Jha, who is Miniter of Water Resources and Information and Public Relations, said in a series of tweets that Bihar Government has advised UP administration to be vigilant in the matter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held telephonic discussions with the Chief Ministers of Bihar, Karnataka, Punjab and Uttarakhand to take stock of the Covid-19 situation in their respective states, said sources.The Prime Minister spoke .

The former MP came down heavily on Rudy for not utilising the ambulanceds when COVID patients are dying for want of emergency services. People are paying as much as Rs 12,000 to ferry COVID patients to hospitals even though the hospital may be just 1 km away. There is an acute shortage of ambulances and the Saran MP has kept about 100 ambulances.
