Bihar aims for climate resilience and low carbon growth pathway with UNEP support | India News

NEW DELHI: The Bihar government on Friday signed MoU with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to jointly work on a low carbon development pathway for eventually achieving carbon neutrality in due course. The UNEP, under the MoU, will provide technical assistance to the state to prepare its greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, carry out climate impact scenarios and vulnerability assessments, prepare a strategy for a climate resilient and low carbon economy, and suggest revisions to the State Action Plan of Climate Change (SAPCC). It is expected that the joint works over the course of next few months will pave the way for other states to embark on the journey of climate resilience and low carbon development in sync with India’s commitment of climate action under the Paris Agreement.
