NYCLU joins hospital merger forum

NYCLU joining forum on merger of Schenectady’s Ellis Hospital and Albany’s St. Peter’s | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Schenectady County   The New York Civil Liberties Union is joining a coalition seeking transparency in the merger of Schenectady’s Ellis Medicine and Albany’s St. Peter’s Health Partners.  “We are really interested, as the entire coalition is, in the preservation of healthcare,” said Allie Bohm, policy counsel for the NYCLU. Bohm said a couple of people from the coalition reached out to the non-profit civil rights organization regarding the forum and what was happening with the hospital merger. Bohm said the NYCLU will join tomorrow’s community forum on the merger, but will mainly be working in the background answering questions, forwarding questions and listening to what participants have to say.

Coalition to host forum on hospital merger

Schenectady coalition to host forum on proposed Ellis-St. Peter’s hospital merger | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS By Shenandoah Briere |   Community members will have an opportunity March 4 to voice concerns or raise questions about the merger between Schenectady’s Ellis Medicine and Albany’s St. Peter’s Health Partners during a forum put on by the Schenectady Coalition for Healthcare Access. “The people of our community may not be aware that this partnership is being finalized,” said Legislator Michelle Ostrelich in a news release sent Thursday on the forum. “It is the responsibility of this coalition to inform the public of the immense impact this partnership will have on people living in and around Schenectady County and to ensure that both institutions take the necessary steps to preserve healthcare access.”
