COVID-19 outbreak means Sturgeon Landing residents will have to wait to participate in Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation election
An outbreak of COVID-19 in one of its communities has somewhat scuttled plans for the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation election.
The election is scheduled for Tuesday but the outbreak in the community of Sturgeon Landing means voters will not be able to cast ballots there.
Chief Electoral Officer Burke Ratte said this means the results for chief and the Sturgeon Landing council position will be delayed.
“On April 13, we will only be able to tally the councillor results for each other respective community where the polling stations are open,” he said.
