A young driver who had her premium hiked by €1,700 after a minor rear-ending accident has criticised her insurer for refusing to defend a personal injury claim brought following the accident.
The 23-year-old was involved in the collision last summer after the driver in front of her braked suddenly. She swerved to avoid the crash but hit the rear of the other vehicle.
There was minimal damage done to her own car and the claimant’s car had some small damage.
No ambulance or gardaí were called to the scene, but two weeks later she received a solicitor’s letter, claiming the other driver suffered “severe injuries”.
