STOCKBRIDGE â Itâs a global Christmas gift come early, and medical staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital were some of the first in Henry County to receive it â the COVID-19 vaccination.
The hospitalâs first shipment arrived on Thursday and by Friday doctors and nurses working primarily in the emergency department and critical care units were inoculated.
Hospital Communications Specialist Michael Boylan said 182 employees were vaccinated on the first day.
Last week, Dr. Lily Henson, Piedmont Henry CEO, reported during an update to the Board of Commissioners, that the hospital is experiencing its third surge of COVID cases and more than 80 COVID patients were hospitalized.
STOCKBRIDGE â Piedmont Henry was awarded an âAâ in the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing the hospitalâs achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. Piedmont Henry was one of seven Piedmont hospitals receiving the recognition.
The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Safety Grade assigns an âAâ, âBâ, âCâ, âDâ or âFâ grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. It is based on a hospitalâs performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.
