Ducey in a Tuesday letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin called on the feds to investigate and mitigate water contamination near Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, the former Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in the Tucson area and Morris Air National Guard Base in the Tucson area. The groundwater around Arizona s U.S. Air Force bases has been contaminated by the chemicals found in a type of firefighting foam used on base. The chemicals, perfluorooctane sulfonate, or PFOS, and perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, were found in West Valley drinking water near Luke Air Force Base.
