LAHORE: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Noorul Haq Qadri Saturday said nothing was democratic in the PDM and they were just attempting to create unrest in the country.
He was referring to the anti-government drive of the opposition parties’ alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Addressing a gathering, organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ulema Wing in Samanabad area here, he said the government would never allow derailing of the system.
He said conspiracies against Pakistan Army start from New Delhi and reach here via London. He said the Pakistan Army had always played a key role in prosperity, peace and development of the country. He regretted that the opposition, under the banner of PDM, was running a campaign against a prestigious institution of the country.
Govt Approves Monthly Stipend for Imams and Khateebs
The federal government has decided, in principle, to pay monthly salaries to imams and khateebs.
The Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, floated this idea with the federal cabinet and it has received Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s nod.

In the first phase, the imams and khateebs of the mosques in Islamabad (registered with Awqaf) will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000. After its successful implementation, the initiative will be expanded to the other provinces.
Sources within the ministry said that the PM has instructed Minister Qadri to finalize the work on this proposal before implementing it. The ministry will soon conduct a survey to determine an estimate of the total cost and the eligibility criteria among other things in this regard.
Khateebs to get monthly honorarium

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to extend a monthly honorarium to prayer leaders (khateebs) of Jamia mosques. The honorarium will be paid to all prayer leaders of Punjab, KP and Islamabad.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on the proposal of Religious Affairs Minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri has approved the monthly honorarium to all of prayer leaders.
Ministry for Religious Affairs will work on it after the prime minister instructs them to collect the data of all of khateebs and other scholars. The ministry will conduct a survey about the exact number of khateebs and their ability in this regard. The ministry also sought the recommendations about the procedure to pay the honorarium to all prayer leaders. The honorarium will be paid to all khateebs of Punjab, KP, Islamabad and Balochistan.

Educational institutions, Ulema urged to promote peace

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Noorul Haq Qadri on Thursday urged religious scholars and educational institutions to play their due role for dissemination of Islam’s message of harmony and peace.
Addressing the concluding session of the two days international conference on “ Contemporary challenges for Dawah and their elucidation in the light of Seerah” organized by Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University (IIU), he said a preacher must be reflection of Seerah to get best results.
He said Mosque and the Minbr are the vital attributes of an Islamic society and they have complete freedom in Pakistan. The minister called for addressing the challenges of Dawah and sought their solution in the light of Seerah.
