Lockheed’s SR-72 could reach speeds of Mach 6 – double the speeds of the original SR-71 Blackbird.
The SR-72 aircraft will have the capability to perform high speed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and strike operations. The first flight of the SR-72 demonstrator is anticipated in 2023, while the full scale aircraft is expected to enter into service by 2030, reports Airforce Technology

The first flight of the SR-71 Blackbird out of Palmdale, Calif., wasDecember 22, 1964. Robert Gilliland, a retired test pilot for Lockheed Martin. Gilliland piloted the SR-71 out of Palmdale.
