Iconic lighthouse in Grand Haven getting repairs to ready it for public viewing Updated Apr 04, 2021; Facebook Share GRAND HAVEN, MI – More than $75,000 in renovations to Grand Haven’s iconic Lake Michigan lighthouse will bring it one step closer to opening as a public museum. The entrance lighthouse will receive repairs to its lantern room as part of an ongoing preservation process that has taken at least 10 years. That’s according to Dave Karpin, president of the Grand Haven Lighthouse Conservancy, which will match a $37,879 state grant for the repairs. Once the lantern room repairs are completed, likely this fall, the lighthouse will undergo repairs to its cement base, Karpin said.
