The Town of LaSalle has once again received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Town’s annual budget document for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 2020.
To receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as a financial plan, as an operations guide, and as a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
“This is the fifth year in a row that LaSalle has received an award for our annual budget document. Our administrative team puts a lot of work into the document, and we are pleased to be recognized for this achievement,” said Mayor Marc Bondy.

In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Town Administrator Mel Kleckner recently announced that the town of Brookline received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2021 operating budget.
The award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association. Developing a holistic budget is a complex effort that would not be possible without the dedicated work of countless town employees and elected officials, said Kleckner. I want to congratulate everyone who contributed to this effort, and especially Deputy Town Administrator Melissa Goff and Assistant Town Administrator Justin Casanova-Davis for their tireless work developing this year s town budget despite the added challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
