AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a security guard who is suspected of drugging and robbing two women at a hotel in Seto City in separate incidents, reports Fuji News Network (May 6).
Man injures woman with knife throw inside Himeji ‘snack’

HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly slashing a woman with a knife inside a hostess club in Himeji City, reports Fuji News Network (May 7).
At around 7:30 a.m., Kono, a bar employee, allegedly threw the knife while at the counter of the “snack” club, striking the victim, aged in her 20s, in the right armpit.
The woman was rushed to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the Himeji Police Station said.
Prior to the incident, Kono was drinking with a male acquaintance. They then got into a dispute over the drinking of alcohol. The woman was in a separate party.

FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a male employee in the sex industry who is suspected of setting fire to luxury vehicles in Kitakyushu City, reports Fuji News Network (May 6).
Japan’s regions have seen tourist numbers plummet since a controversial government-funded travel scheme was suspended at the end of last year over concerns that it was helping spread Covid-19 infections.
Noto, where squid is a delicacy, reportedly received ¥800m in grants from the national government to help see it through the pandemic, according to the Fuji News Network.
While town officials were not required to allocate the relief money directly to coronavirus measures, they have drawn criticism for spending such a large sum on the cephalopod attraction.
A local woman in her 60s told the Chunichi she could see how the statue could boost tourism in the long run, but thought the money would have been better spent on medical workers and nursing care services that are in desperate need of support.
