A statement from Patriots players, coaches and personnel

A statement from Patriots players, coaches and personnel Jan 03, 2021 at 07:06 PM Copied! As our 2020 season comes to a close on the field today, we – the New England Patriots players, coaches and personnel staff – are proud to share information about our efforts off the field this season to learn from and support the New England community, a community that has given us such incredible support over the years. Each Monday throughout this season, we held social justice meetings as a team in order to continue important dialogues that began over the summer. We met virtually with leaders of different local organizations and also with system-impacted individuals, all of whom are working in a variety of facets, including police and community relations, criminal justice reform, food insecurity, education and healthcare. We were often joined by ownership, who have been unwavering in their commitment to listening and learning alongside us. Through

Quotes of the year from Vance Gilbert, John Funkhouser, Martin Earle and others

Concert halls are dark. Big arenas and small clubs are closed. Outdoor venues canceled their usual summer series. This hasn’t been a great year for live music. In 1973, Abington Shoe used an innovative molding technique to produce a waterproof, 6-inch Nubuck leather boot that could withstand harsh weather. The company called it the Timberland boot. By the late 1970s, 80% of all the products Abington Shoe sold were Timberland boots. So in 1978, the company changed its name to Timberland, according to a 1983 article from The Boston Globe.  In the beginning, Timberlands were for people who worked in factories or construction, says Rob Walker, Author of Buying In: What We Buy and Who We Are. But as the boot rose in popularity, the Swartz family who owned the brand wanted to appeal to a high-end clientele who wants to go away for the weekend and be comfortable, Timberland s then-principle store designer, Cebra Robusto, told The Boston Globe in 1988.
