A cross-boundary effort to address these infestations of African olive is underway in Maitland, Cessnock and Singleton council areas. Matt Kennedy, Hunter LLS Regional Weeds Coordinator said African Olive is a regional priority weed for the Hunter and is recognised as a significant threat to remnant native bushland areas and can dominate hillsides and spread into paddock areas.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said $11 million would be invested to replace the bridge, one of many regional infrastructure projects being funded in Queensland’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan. “The current bridge was built in 1928 and is a single lane bridge with give way control,” Mr Bailey said. “The new bridge will have two lanes to improve safety, flood resilience and traffic flow by removing the need for westbound traffic to stop and give way.

Major roadworks at Ravensworth near Singleton July 19, 2021 There are some major roadworks getting underway at Ravensworth near Singleton from tonight.  Transport for NSW are undertaking the work on the New England Highway at Ravensworth for the next six months to carry out maintenance on Liddell Deviation Bridge. The work includes installing steel beams on the bridge, the demolition of the existing concrete barrier rail, widening the existing bridge deck and the installation of new steel barrier rails. In a bid to reduce the impact on motorists on the busy highway, the first part of work will mostly be carried out from 7pm to 5am from Monday to Thursday and is expected to be completed in about two weeks, weather permitting. Occasional day work may be carried out during this period.

Just after 2.30pm yesterday (Friday 16 July 2021), officers from Central West Police District attended Speedy Street, Molong, and spoke with four men – aged 21, 49 and two aged 27 – after receiving information they had travelled there from West Hoxton. Police established the men, who were working as removalists, had travelled from West Hoxton to Figtree, before travelling to Molong, stopping in regional areas including South Bowenfels and Orange along the way.
