Lauren Daigle has made her first comments on a November performance in New Orleans and the situation surrounding her possible appearance at a New Year s Eve celebration in the city.
In the statement released Thursday, Daigle said she is, disappointed that my spontaneous participation the rally, which took place in New Orleans French Quarter, has become part of the political discourse and I m saddened by the divisive agendas of these times.
Daigle received backlash for violating the city s COVID-19 restrictions after she participated in a rally near Jackson Square on November 7. That came back into the spotlight last week when New Orleans mayor Latoya Cantrell wrote to Dick Clark Productions, asking that Daigle not be allowed to perform in this year s New Year s Rockin Eve celebration New Orleans segme
(RNS) Christian pop star Lauren Daigle is responding to Louisiana news reports that she had been removed from the lineup of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” the iconic musical countdown to the New Year on ABC.
The move reportedly came after New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell raised concerns about Daigle’s appearance at Sean Feucht’s “Let Us Worship” rally and concert last month in the city, where Daigle lives and “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” plans to film its countdown for the Central time zone.
Feucht’s event in New Orleans’ French Quarter did not have a permit and violated public health guidelines in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, according to the mayor. The event put New Orleans residents in danger and threatened the city’s progress in combating the pandemic, she wrote.

The year is finally drawing to a close and 2020, of course, was extremely challenging for all across the globe in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. This year, we got a crash course in living through our routines remotely, scrubbing our hands clean, practicing social distancing with loved ones, and coming up with new traditions for Halloween and Thanksgiving. And unfortunately, as we get ready to ring in 2021, the spread of COVID-19 here in the United States has never been more viral. It took 3 months for the U.S. to reach 1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases by late April and yet, 15 million infected swelled to 16 million Americans impacted by the disease

Following a complaint from the mayor of New Orleans, popular Christian singer Lauren Daigle has reportedly been removed from the lineup for the annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, a Democrat, wrote a letter to Amy Thurlow, president of Dick Clark Productions, expressing “urgent concerns” about the scheduled appearance of Daigle at the New Year’s Eve celebration, scheduled to be broadcast live from New Orleans for the Central time zone. Cantrell’s concerns surrounded Daigle’s participation in a “Let Us Worship” rally in the city last month.
