Man drives to Wilmington after being shot more than a mile from city

View Comments A 24-year-old man ended up driving to a Wilmington service station Monday after being shot in the leg while in a New Castle-area development more than a mile away. Officers from Wilmington and New Castle County could be seen around a Nissan Murano, with Pennsylvania plates, that had stopped at the BP station, located at 201 S. Heald St. The victim stated that he was not familiar with the area and just drove towards lights which explained how he ended up at the BP station, Master Cpl. Michel Eckerd, a county police spokesman, said.  County police were dispatched to the Wilmington service station about 9 p.m. in reference to a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Forensic experts reconstruct woman s skull found in 2011 in effort to identify her Published  article Experts sculpted a reconstruction of a skull found back in June 2011 in an effort to identify the woman.  WILMINGTON, Del. - Police in New Castle County, Delaware are using technology in their efforts to identify a woman whose remains were found back in 2011.  Back on June 5, 2011, patrol officers were dispatched to a wooded area of Sellers Park off of Edgemoor Road for a reported discovery of human bones. Officers arrived on the scene and found partial remains, including a human skull. An extensive search was conducted and officials also found a pair of blue shorts close to the remains. The remains were then handed over to the Medical Examiner s Office.

Cynthia Yalisove, 63, of Hockessin, Delaware was charged on May 14 by New Castle County Division of Police with one count of felony theft, and additional charges for animal cruelty were also drafted by Pennsville Police Department, the New Castle County Division of Police announced Tuesday. Officers were called to Hockessin’s home on April 6 for a report of theft and were told by the family there that their 6-month-old Pyredoodle had gone missing the day before, police said. The animal was used as therapy dog for the family’s child. The family had searched throughout the night for the dog and reported it missing through social media, police said.
