A 19-year-old was badly injured Monday night after being shot near New Castle, police said.
First responders were called to Swanwyck Park, at Glen and Dyer avenues, shortly before 9:15 p.m. for reports of the shooting.
They found the young man injured. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, police said.
Paramedics treated him on scene and then took him to a local hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.
Photos and videos show an Audi sedan parked on the side of the street, its two front doors open. Clothing or debris is located on the ground near the driver s side door.

When former state Division of Social Services Director Ray Fitzgerald came to the Wilmington Housing Authority, his first order of business was improving the workplace culture and employee morale.
Fitzgerald, who worked for Delaware’s Department of Health and Social Services division for 15 years, said the authority lacked leadership that supported employees, but aims to change that.
“I think people like me that were in this role previously didn’t establish a good culture, didn’t value morale as much as they should,” he said. “They didn’t provide structure and leadership, and that’s what my goal is.”
