On June 8, 2021, the sixth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers Meeting was held in Chongqing. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Myanmar s Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin co-chaired the meeting attended by Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Cambodian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, and Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. Themed with Defeat Pandemic in Solidarity and Deliver Post-COVID Development with Joint Efforts , the meeting reviewed the progress of the LMC, concluded experience over the past five years, and charted the course for major cooperation in the next stage.

Wang Wenbin: The Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers Meeting in Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Dialogue Relations was held in Chongqing, China on 7 June 2021. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, foreign ministers of ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretary-General had in-depth and extensive discussions and reached important consensus on deepening political mutual trust, enhancing anti-epidemic cooperation and boosting economic recovery, among other areas.

Guangxi rising as efficient global trade portal
The Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, a key crossroads providing western China with full access to global markets, will help expand the Belt and Road Initiative and support China’s opening-up in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, said Lan Tianli, chairman of the region and a deputy to the National People’s Congress.
Early this month, 40 containers of pulp for paper manufacturing departed Brazil by ship, bound for the Port of Qinzhou in Guangxi. The pulp then arrived in Chongqing by train, which required just two days.
This new rail-sea freight route is known as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
