Dolgeville cell tower dispute in hands of judge

Times Telegram The future of a planned cell tower on Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Department property at 20 S. Helmer Ave. is currently in the hands of the court.  And residents opposed to the placement of the tower on the site are meeting regularly and are posting signs in the village expressing their concerns.  The Dolgeville Zoning Board of Appeals voted last November to grant a use variance that would allow the project to move forward, but early in December a resident filed an Article 78 proceeding in Herkimer County Supreme Court asking that the ZBA’s decision be set aside.  Penny Primeau, through attorney Claudia K. Braymer, of Braymer Law, of Glens Falls, filed the action against the Dolgeville Zoning Board of Appeals, New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC (AT&T) and the Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Department Dec. 2, 2020, in Herkimer County Supreme Court.

Council unanimously approves about $5 8 million for road construction

The Killeen City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve spending nearly $6 million to help improve the current conditions of 12 streets in Killeen. The item was originally on the consent agenda and was set to be approved along with eight other items. However, at the beginning of the meeting, the item was removed from the consent agenda and became a discussion item. Councilwoman Mellisa Brown spoke during the discussion about her concerns over possible insurance or a warranty on the road construction. Jeffery Reynolds, the city’s director of public works, said a warranty or something similar is not typically done for this type of work.

About 200 public comments were lodged with the county Board of Supervisors on April 20, many from parents and community members in Ripon. Each one echoed a similar message, specifically that they did not want a cell tower anywhere near Colony Oak Elementary School. “We are going to fight this to the end, and our hope is that we stop this before it goes in,” said Kellie Prime, mother of a sixth-grade student at Colony Oak Elementary School.
