Doctors outside New Civil Hospital in Surat SURAT: What Covid-19 took, humanity refilled during the calamity and some of the finest qualities of humankind was witnessed as the pandemic peaked to demonic heights. This was when medical experts of every field rushed in offer their services selflessly to help the poor and needy patients at government hospitals. Around 60 surgeons and super specialists have been taking a couple of hours off daily from their scheduled private practices to dedicate their services in New Civil Hospital (NCH), Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) and Samras Hostel. While already being preoccupied with their responsibilities in different private hospitals, these ‘saviours’ wanted to do a little extra by serving at the public hospitals. The endeavour didn’t end with the ebbing tide of the second wave, but have assured of continuing to support the government hospital even if another wave happens to hit.

20K children in Surat can get infected: Study | Surat News

Study in Surat claims that possible Covid third wave will affect children. (Representative image). SURAT: A study by the state-run New Civil Hospital, Surat (NCHS) has predicted that around 20,000 children (under 15 years of age) could be infected with coronavirus if the third wave strikes. The estimates have been drawn based on elaborate calculations involving the results of RT-PCR, HRCT and rapid antigen tests conducted in the government hospitals and private laboratories in the first and second wave of Covid-19. The study was undertaken after observations that a majority of mothers only in the families of school-going children had tested positive before the second wave peaked.
