NCEA results went online this morning and 140,000 teenagers are finding out how the pandemic affected their education last year.
Students can see how they performed in their end-of-year exams and whether they have achieved an NCEA certificate.
They will also learn how many extra learning recognition credits they received and whether they have merit or excellence endorsements for particular subjects or for their entire NCEA certificate.
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) said it could not yet provide any analysis of the results, but schools would be able to see how their own students had performed and make comparisons to previous years.

The New Zealand Chinese Association will be formally making a complaint after a poem by an anti-Chinese extremist was included in an NCEA Level 2 history exam. The poem, called
Emotional Insanity by anti-Chinese extremist Lionel Terry, was part of an end-of-year history test. The test was about examining “sources of a historical event that is of significance to New Zealanders” and focused on mental health facility Seacliff and included people s experiences there.
Terry was an Englishman who handed out pamphlets on racial purity. He is known for murdering Chinese man Joe Kum Yung on Wellington’s Haining St in 1905
New St Peter s College principal Margaret Leamy is an old girl of the school. “It s the [school] values that we grew up with. Now you re teaching you’re actually putting them into play. “Instilling those important values into current students is really important.” She wanted to develop a curriculum for all students and cater for diverse learners. “That s one key priority and the other one is just about continuing to grow our community, faith, culture and life – all the college things brought together in harmony.” She said the school was on the right track and she wanted it to continue to grow.
