Search broadened for nominations for TAB Board

Racing Minister Grant Robertson is expanding the search for nominations for the TAB NZ Board. “The process to date has yielded some good candidates, but the selection panel has recommended that I broaden the search and I agree. “This is a significant decision for the future of racing in this country and I am determined to get it right. While this does mean there will be a delay, I have confidence in the interim Board, and that we will find the best people to guide the future of the TAB.” Nominations have been received so far from the three racing codes: New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, Harness Racing New Zealand and Greyhound Racing New Zealand.

New Zealand Derby to be moved forward 24-hours, could be shifted away from Auckland s Ellerslie Racecourse

Dave Rowland/Getty Images If the New Zealand Derby is held at Ellerslie Racecourse, it will be without a crowd unless Auckland makes an unlikely move to level 1. Racing Administrators remain hopeful that Ellerslie will be the venue for this year’s Group I Vodafone New Zealand Derby (2400m), but a call as to whether the bumper race meeting can proceed at Auckland’s premier course on Sunday will be made as late as Friday afternoon. Should Alert Level status be retracted to Level 2 by the government as hoped, the Derby will be run at Ellerslie, albeit with a limited volume of people on course.
