View Comments PATERSON With the city in danger of surpassing last year’s record-breaking shooting statistics, two Paterson churches on Saturday, Aug. 7, will be participating in a gun buyback program launched by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. People will be allowed to turn in as many as three guns with no questions asked and receive as much as $250 for each one, officials said. The state is overseeing similar buyback efforts in Atlantic City, East Orange and Newark on the same day, an initiative touted by Gov. Phil Murphy as a way to improve safety in New Jersey cities plagued by gun violence.
