NEW DELHI: In a major relief to NDTV promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy in the “wrongful gains by insider trading” case, the Supreme Court today directed the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) to hear their appeal against the SEBI penalty of over Rs 16.97 crores, without asking for any deposit. The bench added that no amount shall be coercively recovered from the appellants for hearing the case.
The SAT had earlier directed the promoters of NDTV to deposit 50 per cent of the disgorged amount, which they allegedly made via wrongful insider trading, before markets regulator SEBI.

NEW DELHI: New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) reported an 87.06 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 22.69 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2020.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 12.13 crore during the October-December period a year ago, NDTV said in a BSE filing.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose 11.73 per cent to Rs 109.82 crore during Q3, as against Rs 98.29 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Overall, this is the NDTV Group s best quarterly result in the last eight years, the company said in an earnings statement.

SC asks promoters Prannoy, Radhika to apprise it of shares they hold in NDTV

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Thursday asked NDTV promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy to apprise it of the shares they hold in the company and their value by Friday.
The promoters told the apex court that they were willing to give undertakings that their shares in NDTV will not be transferred.
They have challenged the order directing them to deposit 50 per cent of the alleged unlawful gains which markets regulator Sebi found to have been made by them.
