New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she is "encouraged" by the high testing rates after a Victorian resident visited the state’s south coast while potentially infectious with COVID-19.
Close to 250 NSW residents have been forced into isolation as a result of close contact with a positive case despite the state recording no new cases overnight.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian has praised the high level of cooperation shown by the state's residents with over 21,000 people presenting themselves for testing over the past 24 hours.
‘We’re encouraged by the level of enthusiasm in the community and we urge that to continue," she said.
Ms Berejiklian also thanked the residents who came forward to get the jab in what was a record-breaking day for the state.
“Yesterday New South Wales Health broke another record, getting through 14,000 vaccinations in one day, which is really positive," she said.
Victoria’s Covid-19 case numbers rose by six, to a total of 60 cases, on Wednesday. The person was in Jervis Bay, Goulburn, Hyams Beach, and Vincentia while potentially infectious on 23 and 24 May. Anyone who was at a location of interest who is now in New Zealand should call Healthline, get a test for Covid-19, and isolate until they receive a negative result.
