The extension of the third line of the Sofia underground was officially put into operation on Saturday. The 4 km long line, which connects Sofia s Ovcha Kupel and Gorna Banya districts with the center, was officially opened at a ceremony at the Mizia / New Bulgarian University metro station. It was attended by the resigned Minister of Transport, the Mayor of Sofia, the Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, the Executive Director of Metropolitan EAD, mangers from Siemens and others. Like the first section of metro line 3, launched in the middle of last year, the extension will be serviced by Inspiro locomotives, delivered by Siemens.
