Judge warns woman for spitting on police officer

As a constable learnt in to release Southey’s seatbelt, she spat on the officer’s arm and then kicked open the car door with enough force that it struck the officer. Defence lawyer Mark Townshend sought a sentence of supervision for the assault and a fine for the disorderly behaviour. He said Southey had been in a highly emotional state and was trying to clear her throat when she spat at the officer. Townshend said Southey was supported in court by her church pastor.

Wanted criminal to spend at least another week behind bars

He had managed to avoid capture since November 11, 2020, when a warrant for his arrest was issued for breaching his release conditions. Riddle appeared before Judge Lyn Harrison in the New Plymouth District Court on Thursday. Defence lawyer Samantha Hunt requested the case be adjourned for a week so a legal aid application could be filed. Harrison remanded Riddle in custody by consent to reappear on January 14 via audio visual link.

Motorist captures moment police throw down spikes and swoop on alleged offender

Within seconds, the alleged offender s vehicle came over the bridge, stopping within centimetres of the spikes. The officers armed with tasers quickly surrounded his vehicle. Pregnant mother of five jailed for possession of firearm

Duncan provided a false name but when her true identity was discovered by police she was found to have an active warrant to arrest.
