Among the conversations are the ramifications of having Black hair styles.
Perhaps no other ethnic group has hair so imbued with cultural and historical legacies. In addition, there are practical aspects to caring for and styling Black hair. Thus, Black women and men alike style their hair in locs, twists, braids, or natural styles to accommodate both the cultural and practical. But these styles have met resistance from schools and businesses.
New Mexico Higher Education Department And Lawmakers Seek To Expand Scholarships For Aspiring Educators

SANTA FE The New Mexico Higher Education Department and lawmakers are seeking to expand financial aid programs aimed at supporting New Mexicans pursuing degrees leading to teacher licensure.
A total of $6 million is recommended to sustain and expand three existing programs including:
Grow Your Own Teachers Scholarship;
Teacher Preparation and Affordability Scholarship; and
Teacher Loan Repayment Program.
“Improving educational outcomes for all New Mexicans is vital, and we must work together to support aspiring educators and fill current vacancies,” Acting Higher Education Secretary Stephanie Rodriguez said. “Great teachers create great students and expanding these scholarship and loan-for-service programs is a vote of support for both our educators and our children.”

It appears that New Mexico’s state government is continuing to move in the direction of environmentalists and away from oil and gas operators. However, New Mexico enjoys significant revenue from the production of oil and gas, so it’s debatable that actions to slow production will have widespread support.
In December 2020, New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands, Stephanie Garcia Richard, announced plans to halt the commercial sale of fresh water from state trust lands for oil and gas development. In a letter to oil and gas operators, the Commissioner informed companies that hold easements and grant access to state trust land to pump fresh water for sale to the oil and gas industry, their easements/permits won’t be renewed, nor would any new permits be granted.
