4:38 Overdose deaths have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the CDC, and many people are delaying or avoiding medical care due to concerns about the virus. The New Mexico Crisis and Access Line decided to partner with Digital Therapeutics Group LLC so those living with addictions can get support online. Launched in November with funding from the Department of Human Services Behavioral Health Division, the 5-Actions Program is free and anonymous. KUNM’s Nash Jones spoke with the app’s creator, John Fitzgerald, to learn more about the program. JOHN FITZGERALD: We call it a self-guided roadmap. So, it includes a variety of educational videos, all three to five minutes long, and a variety of self-assessment tools. And what s unique about the program is that comes with 24/7 phone support from the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line.

Human Services Dept. Publishes 2021 Data Book Volume 2 NMHSD News: SANTA FE New Mexico Human Services Department announces the publication of the department’s second Data Book Volume 2. It is a summary of social, economic, and health statistics of our state. The Data Book presents, in one reference document, a diversity of information and is designed to facilitate comparisons of national, state, and county-level data. “The 2021 Data Book contains an abundance of information that can be used to drive evidence‐based policy and legislation to positively transform the lives of New Mexicans,” said Cabinet Secretary David R. Scrase, M.D. “Transparency and fact-based information helps us identify our state’s areas of greatest need to develop policy solutions that address those needs.”

Updated data on the state’s 33 counties indicated that 29 counties now have COVID positivity rates of 10% or less. That information was released at the same time that a new executive order took effect to relax rules concerning travel-related quarantines for people entering or returning to the state.
