New York’s seven-day average COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped to 0.71%, a new record low, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday.
The news comes as New York registered 55 straight days of declining coronavirus cases in the state.
Today s update on the numbers:
Total COVID hospitalizations are at 1,068.
Of the 122,737 tests reported yesterday, 785 were positive (0.64% of total).
According to New York Health Department data, the seven-day coronavirus positivity rate dropped to 0.75% in August 2020, before rising again in the fall and winter.

New York camp operators have new guidelines for reopening following an almost complete shutdown last summer.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the guidelines went into effect May 19 and include mandatory daily health screening practices for staff and visitors. That involves daily temperature checks.

Child care, day camp and overnight camp programs will have to notify state and local health departments immediately upon being informed of any positive COVID-19 test result for a staff member or child at their site.
Each site is responsible for implementing property-specific capacity limitations for children and campers that makes sure there is appropriate social distancing. Staff who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 must maintain a distance of at least six feet from any other unvaccinated staff.
