Mary Wilson, Founding Member of The Supremes passes away at age 76

Mary Wilson, founding and original member of The Supremes, passed away suddenly this evening according to a statement from her longtime friend and publicist, Jay Schwartz. She was at her home in Henderson, NV. She was 76.
She is survived by: her daughter Turkessa and grandchildren (Mia, Marcanthony, Marina); her son, Pedro Antonio Jr and grandchildren (Isaiah, Ilah, Alexander, Alexandria); her sister Kathryn; her brother, Roosevelt; her adopted son/cousin William and grandchildren (Erica (great granddaughter, Lori), Vanessa, Angela). Services will be private due to Covid restrictions. A celebration of Mary Wilson’s life will take place later this year. The family asks in lieu of flowers, that friends and fans support UNCF.org and the Humpty Dumpty Institute .

The state’s capital took the top spot in the
U.S. News annual ranking of best places to live in New York, a report that takes into consideration various factors including good value, desirability, job market and quality of life. And this bustling city, located about 150 miles from NYC, definitely ticks all the boxes.
With more than four centuries of history (Albany was declared the state capital in 1797), the main attraction and employer here is the group of government buildings around the Empire State Plaza, situated in the heart of downtown. This is also where you’ll find the fascinating New York State Museum, as well as many displays of modern public art. Other attractions in Albany include the many leafy parks, Hudson river cruises and craft beverage trails.

ALBANY – After months of ignoring pleas from a Native American tribe, Gov. Andrew Cuomo s administration will soon make good on an agreement to install large-scale murals celebrating Native history on a new Interstate 87 overpass.
The state Department of Transportation announced late Friday that installation work will begin next week on a set of engraved murals that will adorn a flyover ramp at the newly opened Exit 3, a pet project of Cuomo s that connects the highway directly to Albany International Airport.
Two of the tribes agreed to a 2014 deal with the DOT that allowed construction to proceed and called for the murals to be installed prominently on the overpass as a way of celebrating the history of the land.

Tom Roohan is as well known for being a longtime philanthropist as he is for his business success. He is a veteran supporter of Catholic Charities in Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties. He was honored in the summer of 2020 by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. The owner of Roohan Realty in Saratoga Springs, he has been instrumental in establishing Mary’s Haven, a home for the terminally ill, in the same city.
