The New York State Climate Action Council is a 22-member committee working to map out the steps New York will have to take to meet climate goals set in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), signed in 2019 by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The primary goal of the law is to eliminate 100% of climate pollution caused by humans. It calls for an 85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with an interim target of 40% by 2030.

The Board of Directors at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority or NYSERDA has appointed its acting CEO to the role on a permanent basis. Doreen Harris – who has spent more than a decade with NYSERDA – has been leading the agency since June 2020 following the departure of Alicia Barton.
Harris is also co-chair of the New York State Climate Action Council, tasked with meeting the goals of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $10 million to launch the Carbontech Development Initiative, a program to establish New York State as a world-class hub of carbon-to-value research, technology transfer and commercialization.
