Trooper Monica M. Sacco of the New York State Police in Syracuse recently showed a great deal of compassion while assisting the driver of a tractor-trailer that had broken down on the side of the Thruway. It was extremely cold out that day, and the driver was sitting in the vehicle with the engine off, so Trooper Sacco offered him a ride to a nearby gas station where he could wait for a tow truck in warmth. The driver declined the offer, but accepted blankets from Sacco to keep warm while he waited.

WATER MILL, NY One teen was arrested after two Mercedes Benz vehicles were stolen from a Water Mill driveway Sunday and later crashed, police said.
According to Southampton Police, at 2 a.m., a call came in about the two vehicles taken from a man s driveway. A patrol officer spotted the two vehicles heading west on County Road 39 and attempted to stop the drivers, who refused to pull over and began to drive recklessly on Sunrise Highway in the westbound lane, police said.
The person driving a 2020 Mercedes Benz G Wagon exited Sunrise Highway and crashed the vehicle in a wooded area; the occupants fled on foot, police said. The person driving the second vehicle, a 2012 Mercedes-Benz convertible, continued driving recklessly and heading west on Sunrise Highway before crashing in a wooded area between Exits 62 and 63; those occupants also fled on foot, police said.
