There’s Now a Trail That Allows You To Hike from Buffalo to New York City It s been a while since I had a good hike or bike ride. It s such a fun activity. A few years ago, I would routinely try new trails around Western New York to go running or walking, and I still have an itch to do that even though I m busier these days. So, when I saw this story, my heart was full because I would love to tackle this challenge. I m talking about hiking down the entire (brand new) Empire State Trail that was completed in December of 2020.

Shuffle Off to Buffalo: The Empire State Trail is Now Complete

click to enlarge The Walkway Over the Hudson is now a part of the Empire State Trail, which connects 20 regional trails to create a continuous route across the state. It is expected to draw 8.6 million residents and tourists annually. With the completion of the 750-mile Empire State Trail in December, New York can now claim the longest state multiuse trail in the US. And given that one can now walk or bike from lower Manhattan to the Canadian border or hang a left at Albany and get to Buffalo mostly off-road it’s undoubtedly one of the most diverse, freeing us from our cars to experience everything from SoHo to the Erie Canal from whole new perspectives.

Agriculture, food organizations want employees reincluded in Phase 1B

Reprinted from Hoard s Dairyman Chronicle Express A coalition of organizations representing various agriculture sectors from New York have signed a letter urging Governor Andrew Cuomo to include agriculture and food processing employees back into Phase 1B of the state’s vaccination schedule as soon as possible. New York state developed a schedule to administer the vaccine based on type of industry and employee, age, health status and other criteria. The state had followed the guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that was provided and defined essential workers based upon occupation. Frontline healthcare workers were the first to be eligible to receive the vaccine when it was available under Phase 1A. Under Phase 1B includes: first responders, transit workers, educational and childcare employees, individuals living and working in homeless shelters, front facing grocery store employees, and anyone over 75.
