Biden Announces New Picks for White House Economic Advisory Team
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has announced several more prospective picks for the National Economic Council (NEC), a body that advises the U.S. president on domestic and foreign economic policy.
Biden and running-mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said in a statement to reporters on Monday that they would appoint David Kamin, a former Obama official, to serve as deputy director of the NEC. Bharat Ramamurti, a former aide to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), is their nominee for deputy NEC director for financial reform and consumer protection. Joelle Gamble, who currently serves on the Biden-Harris transition’s domestic economic policy team, would serve as special assistant to the president for economic policy.

WASHINGTON: US President-elect Joe Biden on Monday named Indian-American Bharat Ramamurti as one of the three new members of the National Economic Council that coordinates domestic and international economic policymaking process for the administration. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris named three additional NEC members: Joelle Gamble, Special Assistant to the US President for Economic Policy; David Kamin, Deputy Director NEC along with Ramamurti as Deputy Director of NEC for Financial Reform and Consumer Protection.
