Email Submit Groton Police have charged a Groton woman who fatally struck a man with her car while he was walking from his job at the Electric Boat shipyard in Groton one night in April, authorities said. Carrie Malarkey, 38, of 46 Nichols Ave. was charged Tuesday with second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving and insufficient insurance, according to the City of Groton Police Department. Just after 10 p.m. April 21, 2020, Malarkey was driving her 2012 Ford Focus on Eastern Point Road when she struck 60-year-old Ralph Lopardo of Waterford as he was crossing the street in the crosswalk after finishing his shift at EB, according to police.

Randall C. Holman, 24, of 388 Long Hill Road is charged with third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree strangulation. Police were called to Gold Star Inn & Suites, 605 Gold Star Highway, on Dec. 17 for reports of a woman screaming “call 911,” a police report shows. The woman told police she and Holman had been in an argument that became physical when Holman grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head into a wall five times after she threw his cellphone in the toilet. She had struggled to breathe during the incident and said she also was punched in the face.

Waterford A Norwich man has been charged with using a mirror to spy on a girl who was using the bathroom in the Crystal Mall on Christmas Eve.  According to police, Shelton Hendricks, 61, of 152 Broad St., entered a bathroom at the Christmas Tree Shop about 12:23 p.m. and placed a mirror under the stall to spy on a girl in the next stall. Police were called to the mall and worked closely with the girl and her family, along with mall security personnel and store management, to find surveillance footage of the man. The police department posted surveillance photos, which showed a man with dark hair and a dark mustache, wearing a blue and black zip up jacket, dark sunglasses and a surgical mask, on their social media profiles asking for information about the suspect.
