The Portland Sea Dogs bounced back from a lopsided season-opening loss Tuesday and an inauspicious start Thursday to sweep the visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats in a seven-inning doubleheader before a crowd of 1,240 at Hadlock Field.
A home run by Johan Mieses that cleared the 37-foot wall in left field broke a sixth-inning tie to give the Sea Dogs a 4-3 victory in the nightcap. Earlier, the Dogs overcame a five-run deficit to beat the Fisher Cats 9-6.
Both Sea Dogs starting pitchers were making their Red Sox organizational debuts, having arrived via trade over the winter.

Young finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate to go with three runs batted in (RBIs) and one run scored. He also had a stolen base. The Fisher Cats is an affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Update:
No Springer tonight in our lineup. Biggio getting a game at second.
There is some news from the Jays today.
Reese McGuire is ‘waiting to clear protocols and be activated’. I was thinking he would be joining the taxi squad (and wouldn’t have to be added to the 40-man roster), but the term activated sounds like he’ll be joining the roster. Not sure what he will do to pass the time while waiting.
I’ve been waiting for the Jays lineup, but I add it when it appears.
