HAMPTON, Ga. Kyle Busch earned his record 102nd NASCAR Xfinity Series race victory Saturday afternoon in the Credit Karma Money 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway - taking the checkered flag in overtime to top a perfect 5-for-5 record in Xfinity starts this season.
The winningest driver in serieshistory proclaimed Saturday s work to be his final curtain call, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion saying he would no longer compete in the Xfinity Series.
Ironically, in what should have been his biggest bow before the fans - his traditional victory celebration - Busch, 36, opted for a more subdued acknowledgement of the win. He placed the flag inside his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 54 Toyota and conceded the win wasn t exactly how he wanted to add to his historic victory tally.
Friday Faceoff: Which Track Should Be Considered Untouchable?
Atlanta Motor Speedway is the latest track making changes to its layout and/or design. What track should be next? Which one should absolutely remain untouched?
Trenton Worsham: New Hampshire Motor Speedway or another mile-and-a-half. I don’t like how flat NHMS is, and it’d be cool to make each mile-and-a-half unique. Tracks to not touch would be Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway.
Luken Glover: Richmond Raceway is one that should be looked at, especially if we see a similar race in September to the ones we’ve seen the past few trips. Richmond has tailored many of their amenities to appeal to fans even more, and it has worked. The fan experience at the short track is among the best on the circuit. However, the racing has not complemented it the past few seasons. Sealing the track could be an option, or feeding off Atlanta and adjusting the banking is intriguing. Rich

Did You Notice?: 6 NASCAR Storylines to Follow With 6 Regular Season Races Left
Did You Notice? … There’s six races left in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season?
After some incredible parity, with 10 different winners in the first 11 races, the 2021 playoff battle has mostly sorted itself out. We’ve had just one new winner in the last nine races as Cinderellas have been replaced by the typical country club up front. Recent hot streaks by both Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing make it within the realm of possibility those multi-car giants could put six, maybe even seven drivers combined in the Round of 8.

Three road course races in five weekends changed the complexion of the season, not only for the Hendrick Motorsports drivers who swept them and gathered momentum, but also because it causes the rest of the field to shift their focus and find a different balance than they’ve had any season previous to 2021.
For any moderately capable driver and team, road courses allow them to control their fate to a degree we are not currently seeing on unrestricted, intermediate speedways and certainly not plate tracks. That is even truer for the dark horse teams that found their way into the top 10 at Road America. Kurt Busch, Matt DiBenedetto, Chase Briscoe, and Ross Chastain needed those runs to gain momentum for the final run to the playoffs. It could be the difference between being in the top 16 or outside that mark when the final 10 races roll around.
