Did You Notice?: NASCAR Track Rotation Not the Worst Idea
March 16, 2021 written by Tom Bowles
Did You Notice?… Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of a handful of tracks to gain back a second NASCAR date in the modern era after losing it? AMS will run its first NASCAR Cup Series race of 2021 this weekend (March 21) before the sport makes a return trip on July 11.
There’s a lot of good reasons for AMS to get its groove back. Its worn-out surface, tough on tires, still makes it a driver’s track, even with the sport’s 550-horsepower, high-downforce handling package. Its proximity to one of the largest, fastest-growing cities in the Southeast makes it a must-have for the sport. And CEO Marcus Smith of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. is eyeing a $1 billion expansion that includes a casino and entertainment complex built adjacent to the racetrack.

Autotrader Stays With Team Penske, Signs Multi-Year Extension
March 17, 2021 written by Joy Tomlinson
Longtime sponsor Autotrader has signed a multi-year extension with Team Penske and will be on board for six NASCAR Cup Series races in 2021, the team announced March 17.
Autotrader, which has been with Penske since 2014, will be a primary sponsor for Brad Keselowski at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday. It will also come aboard at Martinsville Speedway in April and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in September.
“It’s great to have Autotrader back on board for 2021,” Keselowski said in a team release. “They’ve been a great partner with us for several years and do a lot to activate with our fans, which is really cool. I think it’s so important to have partners in our sport that aren’t just on the side of the car, but actually have active programs and platforms to engage the fans.”
