New Hanover, Wilmington code enforcement and zoning issues

Question:  A neighbor has allowed both her home and her yard to fall into hideous disrepair. I believe there is an ordinance that requires her to maintain upkeep. What office do I contact? City of Wilmington spokesperson Dylan Lee recommends calling the Code Enforcement section at 910-341-3266 or submitting the information online at wilmingtonnc.gov/departments/community-services/code-enforcement. For residents of the unincorporated areas of New Hanover County, a suspected zoning or ordinance violation can be reported to New Hanover County Planning & Land Use at 910-798-7116.  For complaints about high grass, tall weeds, and other environmental issues, contact the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 910-798-4200. A deputy will come out and take a report and then the sheriff s office will have an environmental detective come out to investigate.
