A mass shooting at a house party in North Carolina killed three people and wounded four others, marking the latest in a string of fatal shootings that has rocked the nation.
The Wilmington Police Department said it is investigating the shooting, which took place shortly after midnight on Friday night.
Police responding to the scene found that “a gunfight had erupted inside the home during a house party and seven people were struck by gunfire.”

“Three of the seven are deceased. The remaining four victims are being treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center,” the department added.
A fire broke out in a condominium complex at Carolina Beach midday Friday.
Fire crews arrived to the scene at Paradise Cove Condominiums near the Snow s Cut Bridge at around 1 p.m. to find all three floors of one building in the community engulfed in flames, said Chief Alan Griffin with Carolina Beach Fire Department.
Four people were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment, including three people who jumped from windows. Although some of the injuries are serious, none are life threatening, Griffin said.
The center section of the horseshoe-shaped building, which includes two stairwells, was the most damaged. But residents from all 12 units in the building were displaced. The American Red Cross is currently assisting those residents. Griffin added that some adjacent units were also impacted, but remain habitable.
By 9 a.m. Saturday, Wilmington police officers pulled away the crime tape.
A few neighbors, leery at first, came out to assess what had happened on their block of Kidder Street between Seventh and Eighth streets.
Just after midnight, many of them were hunkered down for safety. One put her granddaughter in a bathtub. Then came the wail of gunfire in various directions aimed at a party in a house deemed by one neighbor as a kind of club for young people. I saw everything as it was happening, said another neighbor. Then my son said Oh my God, they have guns.
