Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC Wilmington distribution center

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina announced that Bohman Murray Hemingway Architects has been selected as the architect for their facility to be located at 1000 Greenfield St. in Wilmington.  Established in 1955, the firm has a long-standing reputation within the Wilmington community and has recently worked with the YMCA, New Hanover County Schools, UNCW, New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and the Battleship North Carolina. W.M. Jordan Company, a 60-year-old firm with offices in Wilmington and Virginia, has been selected as the general contractor for the project. The company rose to the top due to their experience with other food bank facilities in Virginia and their dedication to success.

Jerry graduated from The Pennington School in 1955. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and remained a proud veteran the rest of his life. Following his discharge, he went into the family business, running the Neon bar on Hanover Street in downtown Trenton. He went on to sell the bar and worked for Amtrak until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially his beloved Eagles. He will rest easy knowing they finally won a Super Bowl in 2017. His outgoing personality and bright sense of humor, along with his deep compassion, warmed the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Novant to build $222 million tower at Forsyth Medical Center

Novant Health Inc. said Thursday that it will spend $222 million to build a critical-care tower at Forsyth Medical Center projected to open in late 2024. The tower is the largest investment by Novant for its main Triad hospital and is the second phase of an overall $403.4 million project at the Winston-Salem hospital. Chad Setliff, president of Novant’s greater Winston-Salem market, said the system “does not anticipate additional mega projects at Forsyth for the foreseeable future. Setliff defined mega projects as being more than $10 million in capital investments. The tower will be built on the site of the hospital’s Rehabilitation Center, which will be torn down. The tower is projected to open 24 months after that demolition is completed.
